  • Seamanship skills should be practised under supervision until actions become accurate, controlled, and dependable. Discipline, teamwork, correct procedures, and sound judgment are essential because a knot or rigging arrangement is useful only when it is appropriate for the load, rope, direction of pull, and ease of release.
