Olympic Value Education presents sport as an educational and social practice that develops the body, mind, and character. • Historical and institutional foundations: The ancient Olympic Games were held in Olympia, Greece, and were traditionally dedicated to Zeus. The modern Olympic Games were revived in 1896 in Athens, Greece, through the efforts of Pierre de Coubertin. The Olympic Movement is guided by the Olympic Charter and supported internationally by the International Olympic Committee and, nationally, by National Olympic Committees.
